roof finished, exhaust progress, wing mounts

Progress is still good, though I find myself flitting from one area of the build to another on a daily basis at the moment. Mainly dictated by which parts have just arrived and trying to keep an overview of the critical path items to ensure the earliest possible finish date.

In reality I think the critical path item will be the complete wiring loom and electronic set up of the car, but I am going to push hard to get the mechanical side finished as soon as possible so I can dedicate the time to the electronics that they deserve in order to get all the systems running correctly and robustly...

So anyway this week I have:

1) Painted the roof skin internally in a Satin Silver and re-fitted to the car. Left to do on the roof is just the final colour, and fitting the door/window seals.

2. Fitted titanium fuel filler pipe. Massively lighter than the steel OEM one at only 172 grams!!

3. Begun mocking up rear wing mounts and real clamshaft supports.

4. Tacked up the last pieces of the exhaust header manifolds ready for final welding. I hope to the have the exhaust system complete by this time next week. All that will remain will be to make some gaskets for the manifold to cylinder head seal.

miscellaneous progress

measuring up to create some side skirts.

bulkhead -10AN fittings in the wheelarch well for the engine oil cooler.

trying on the rear clam for size...

setting up the universal level sender for the tank.

ordered a huge number of sure seal connectors for the loom. Pictured is a fuel pressure transducer for closed-loop fuel pressure control once I had re-potted the new connector.

gravity fed fuel pump system - managed to find space for it down the LHS sill which will keep it away from heat and gives me an extra litre or so of fuel tank volume. The natural rake of the car will also help the pump always be the lowest point in the system.
