productive day on suspension

Spent some time prepping the Pilbeam style rear wishbones today. Now freshly painted and with new Eliseparts ertacetal bushes fitted. Just awaiting two new ball joints for the rear...

Did the same with the front uppers, and got them re-fitted to the car. Opted to shim them for maximum caster straight out as will be mainly a track car, and should tend to give a more positive feel to the steering self-centering.

Note to anyone fitting the Ertacetal bushes to the front uppers. As stated in the instructions you no longer require the rubber coated snubber washer, however the instructions state the shim stack should still be 3x 1.5mm = 4.5mm

I found that two 2mm shims were a much better fit so my shim stacks totalled around 4.1mm per side.

catch tank mounted

Only a small update today but got 0.5L catch tank mounted to the side of the clutch and flywheel cover (known in 355 circles as the Pumpkin due to it's shape!) where it should be reasonably accessible once the bodywork is on. Given the dry sumped nature of this engine there shouldn't be too much carryover of oil to worry about anyway.

updates coming thick and fast

Pilbeam style rear lower wishbones and toe kit:

 Lovely TIG welding :)

Fuel system nearly complete. dash-6AN braided lines all round with adjustable FPR.

Alternator mounted. Driven by left bank camshaft via a V-belt and pulley of my own design.

Engine back in

Engine now in and bolted to it's engine mounts. Wishbone refitment has started and the cross brace between the two rear damper top mounts has been completed. This should really help stiffen up the rear end of the car as the two dampers are tied in a lot closer now than with the original subframe.

Rear wheel arch liners have been re-fitted. Coolant header tank has been mounted to bulkhead and I am currently progressing routing various fuel and breather lines...

New Year.. New suspension.

New, or at least fully refurbished.

I have spent the first few days of 2015 cleaning, rubbing back and painting the wishbones to better than new.

Then today my new Ertacetal bushes arrived, so I have been able to start re-fitting the upper wishbones to the car.
